Today, I took Javier to Spot’s Park for a walk. I like that there are several parks for us to visit on any given day. But, back to today. We started to stroll and watched people work out and jog around the loop at the park. I was impressed with all the work the city has done improving Spot’s Park and building walking paths along Memorial Drive. The bridges along the way allowing us to cross memorial and walk along Allen Parkway is just awesome! We walked towards downtown and seeing the skyline reminds me how much I enjoy living in the near the city.
On the way back to the car, I was thinking about how lucky the people who lived so close to Spot’s park and the miles of new walking paths are. There is a nice gated community that backs right up to Spot’s park. The Park at Memorial Heights is a community of patio homes with good sq footage, little yards and convenient location. The community is north of Memorial Drive and south of Washington Ave and just off Waugh. Homes in this community usually are above $400,000. A patio home here means your backyard is Spot’s park – with a private gate from the community to the park.
Another great pocket of homes close to this area is Jackson Hill. I love finding areas like these. They feel residental and walkable, yet so close to a big city. There is a mixture of townhomes and single famly homes, which allows for a wider range of priced homes. Either of these areas, I could easily walk out the door and within blocks be walking on the walking paths or enjoying dinner at one of the many restaurants off Washington Ave.
These are just a couple of areas “inner loop” that are family friendly. I’ll be posting more inner loop areas that I think would be nice to live in while raising a child. What’s your favorite inner loop residential area?
